Shamsul Haque for Assembly, District 30

Fighting for a more affordable, safe, and equitable Queens.

I've spent my career in public service. Now I'm running to deliver for this community.

I immigrated from Bangladesh 35 years ago with $200 in my pocket and made my home in Woodside.

I started out washing dishes while working toward my GED at LaGuardia Community College, and later graduated from Baruch.

I know what it takes to build a life here, and how hard it has become for families to stay.

It's what led me to spend over two decades in public service with the NYPD, including nearly 10 years investigating corruption in the Internal Affairs Bureau.

"I'm running to represent this district and deliver for working families."

What We're Fighting For.

So families can stay, and our communities can continue to thrive.

MAKE QUEENS Affordable

Queens is one of the most diverse places in the world. Keeping it affordable is how we protect the families, cultures, and small businesses that make this district what it is.

  • Pass a rent freeze for rent-stabilized tenants statewide
  • Pass the REST Act to declare a housing emergency statewide
  • Invest in truly affordable housing by redefining income requirements to local averages
  • Support community land trusts
  • Push for property tax relief for homeowners
  • Strengthen tenant protections and enforce housing laws

So people can stay, grow, and continue building community here.

INVEST IN Education & Healthcare

Our public schools and hospitals are at the heart of this community. Investing in them means making sure every family has access to education and care, no matter their background or income.

  • Supporting the ND4C Coalition's priorities of tuition free CUNY and SUNY and full funding
  • Invest in student support and full-time faculty at public universities
  • Protect and fully fund repairs to Elmhurst Hospital
  • Guarantee healthcare for all New Yorkers by passing the NY Health Act
  • Expand mental health services and community care

So every family has the support they need to live, learn, and stay healthy.

BUILD Safe Communities

Strong communities are built on trust, stability, and support. Public safety means making sure people have what they need, from housing to mental health care, while ensuring accountability and fairness.

  • Passing Daniel's law so crises are handled by trained professionals
  • Support community-based safety and prevention programs
  • Expand access to mental health services
  • Ensure accountability across public systems
  • Support fair and timely parole focused on rehabilitation
  • Advocate for implementation of the HALT Act and eventual abolition of solitary confinement

So communities feel safe, supported, and connected.
